After a week snowboarding in Breckenridge, the six of us spent a weekend in Denver, Colorado. Denver has long been a city I have been interested in visiting. My husband and I have many friends that live around the Denver area and we often heard of all the adventurous activities that are at your fingertips here.
We arrive via our Shuttle with Summit Express Shuttle to the airport and took an Uber into the city. We stayed at the Springhill Suites in Downtown Denver.
We chose this hotel, mostly because we enjoy staying at Marriott Hotels and we are a Marriott Rewards member of course too. The location was perfect because we were going to a Colorado Avalanche hockey game as well as interested in walking around downtown. All close by to this hotel!
The first day we walked to nearby Larimer Square. This is the city’s oldest and most historic block and hosts many unique restaurants and shops along the street.
We found a fantastic and delicious restaurant to eat breakfast and/or lunch. Each of us chose which menu we’d like to eat from. Check out Toms Urban Restaurant if you’ll be in Larimer Square.
I highly recommend spending your day walking around downtown and checking out the boutiques, adventurous stores and grab some small snacks along the street vendors.
We made dinner reservations for Colt & Gray that evening. WOW! I mean Wow. Each of us at the table ordered something different to share and we all loved the food. That is 6 different meals. The Grass Fed Pave, Chicken Ballotine, Lamb Tartare & Charcuterie Board were all delicious. They may rotate their menu but I doubt you’ll be disappointed.
After dinner, we made our way down to the hidden bar downstairs called Saint Ellie. Their selection of whiskeys were among our favorites to try. It’s private, quaint and enjoyable to spend hours spending time with your friends or significant other.
The following day we got up early to get breakfast at Snooze AM eatery. We hear its one of the best breakfast restaurants in town but we were unable to get in. If a two hour wait time doesn’t speak for itself. This particular one was in Union Station. This is a 100 year old historic landmark. It’s beautiful!
Since we couldn’t eat right away, we headed directly to the Red Rocks Amphitheatre. I’m sure you’ve heard of this famous venue right outside Denver. They have a small, free museum to tour. You can see all the bands that have played throughout the years.
This view from the concert arena is breathtaking. I’ve taken a mental note to come back here sometime to hear a concert. I’m positive the sound echoing off the rocks surrounding it make the experience come alive.
That evening, we had tickets to go to the Avalanche Game at the Pepsi Center. This game was amazing! I am a huge hockey fan. In particular, I love the Tampa Bay Lightning but this venue could not have a bad seat in the place. Our entire crew were highly impressed.
The next morning we went to Sunny’s Restaurant for breakfast. One of our friends that lives locally suggested this cute little restaurant. It was small but they offer free coffee while you wait for a table. The menu had plenty to choose from and all of us very much enjoyed our meals. I love breakfast!
Shortly after breakfast we made our way back to the hotel and off to the airport.
We felt Denver had a lot to offer an adventurous couple. We also found many cute restaurants and shops to check out. I felt like we ate and drank at as many as we could. If you find yourself in Denver or if you’re from Denver, leave more suggestions for us so we can check them out next time we are in town. We look forward to a return visit to explore more and possibly get some hikes and biking in .
Check out other North America destinations.
Till next time guys!
